At the BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB), encouraging and supporting the responsible use of our products is a core value of our organization.
The government’s decision to select LDB as the retailer and distributor of non-medical cannabis speaks to our expertise and the service we currently provide in managing a safe, regulated supply chain for liquor.
This also supports the key priorities of restricting access to minors, eliminating the criminal element, ensuring health and safety standards, and providing public education.
We are committed to making every sale a responsible one. The same identification-checking requirements that currently exist for liquor retailers will apply to cannabis retailers, and all staff will be required to complete a provincial training program.
Employees under the retail cannabis division will receive training consistent with the LDB’s commitment to responsible use. Employees will be educated and trained in terms of responsible sale practices, product and consumption expertise, understanding the new laws, and recognizing signs of impairment.
